Description

Alumina Fluoride Reduction Cartridge Jumbo 10" & 20"

Fluoride Reduction Cartridges – Jumbo Size (10" & 20")

These cartridges use Granulated Activated Alumina, a high-performance synthetic media that reduces contaminants through an adsorption process.
They are capable of reducing fluoride by up to 98% and arsenic by up to 90%, based on recommended flow rates of no more than 10 litres per minute for Jumbo units.

Capacity and Cartridge Life

The lifespan of each cartridge depends on your water quality and how much water you use.  For clean, fluoridated water (as commonly found in New Zealand), you can expect effective fluoride reduction (down to approximately 85%) for up to 2,500 litres with smaller systems, and up to 10,000–12,000 litres with 20" Jumbo cartridges. On average, cartridges last around 6 months, though this can vary based on household water consumption.

To maximise performance, keep water flow slow and steady. Regular testing of the filtered water is recommended to ensure the cartridge is still effectively reducing fluoride.

Whole House Use

Jumbo cartridges can be used for whole-house filtration, but there are a few important considerations.
* They are designed to handle flow rates up to 10 litres per minute, which suits small homes or low water usage.
* If flow exceeds this (e.g., multiple showers running at once), the effectiveness of fluoride reduction will decrease.
* For higher water usage or larger homes, we recommend installing multiple cartridges in parallel or considering a specialist whole-house fluoride system.

These cartridges are designed to reduce fluoride levels, not to remove fluoride entirely.
It is strongly recommended to install a pre-filter (such as a sediment or carbon filter) before the fluoride cartridge. This helps extend cartridge life and maintain performance.
Higher flow rates will reduce the effectiveness of the media and shorten its lifespan.

Initial Flushing Requirement

Before using the cartridge, a thorough flush is required to remove fine particles ("fines") that may be released during initial use.
This flush should be directed to drain. If not properly flushed, fines can clog post-filters or enter the plumbing system.

Applications

* Kitchen taps
* Under-bench drinking water systems
* Small homes with low water demand
